Kabul, Afghanistan — December 18, 2018 — Afghan Wireless Communication Company (AWCC) (www.afghan-wireless.com), the nation’s first mobile communications company, and Afghanistan’s leading provider of 4G LTE HD Voice, data, entertainment and mobile payment services to over 5,000,000 consumers and businesses, announced that the Company has launched a strategic partnership with d.light (www.dlight.com), a developer of off-grid solar powered home lighting and power systems that are used by over 85 million people in 65 countries.
Together in Afghanistan, in early 2019, AWCC and d.light will launch ‘Cheraghe Khana—The Gift of Light,’ a new service which will provide solar powered lighting solutions to Afghans who do not have access to grid based electrical power. - Access to clean and affordable electric power
- Access to safe and secure mobile payments solutions and financial services
“The Cheraghe Khana project that we will launch with d.light has the potential to make a tremendous contribution to Afghanistan’s economic development, because it will provide Afghans with clean lighting, clean power and access to mobile, electronic based financial services,” said Mr. Amin Ramin, the Managing Director of Afghan Wireless. “We look forward to working with d.light—and improving the lives of Afghans—for many years to come.”
