Kabul, Afghanistan—February 5, 2019—The Bayat Foundation (www.bayatfoundation.org), Afghanistan’s largest, private, non-profit Health, Education and Social Development Organization, announced the successful conclusion of its 12th Annual Winter Aid Program, which from January 13th to January 25th 2019, distributed 156,384 pre-packaged meals, winter jackets and warm winter clothing to at-risk families living in Kabul and the surrounding regions.
Every year, The Bayat Foundation’s Winter Aid Program provides emergency Food and Winter Clothing to thousands of Afghans. The program is a vital part of the Foundation’s family assistance initiatives, which provide Afghan families and children, with meals, clothing, school supplies and other basic necessities. The pre-packaged meal kits the Foundation provides to families and children in need contain pre-packaged, shelf stable, easily prepared meals that are fortified with proteins, vitamins and other essential nutrients.
Throughout the 2019 Winter Aid Campaign, Dr. Ehsan Bayat, Chairman of The Bayat and Co-Founder of The Bayat Foundation, led a dedicated team of Foundation staff and volunteers from local Mosques and other organizations, to ensure that the food assistance reached the largest possible number of families, children and displaced persons.
In addition to distributing the meal kits, Bayat Foundation staff provided instructions, on how to prepare the meals, so that each meal kit provided the highest nutritional value to the families and others who received the food assistance.
Working intensely throughout the January 13th– January 15th period, The Bayat Foundation distributed food and clothing to people in need at the following locations:
